i’m looking for hosting provider. what i need is basically virtual server, on separate ip (i’d like to put there some non-web servers, like smtpd, and doing so without separate ip can/will be tricky).

other needs – up to 50g of disc space, bandwidth of up to 1mbit upload.

i will need to have root on the machine to be able to install new software, and run services on low-ports (ssh, smtpd, web) and some high-ports (not known at the moment).

can you suggest any company that will let me to setup such a environment? at low price, but not at the cost of service uptime.

    Mam mieszane uczucia co do Hetznera. Moze jak masz tam jeden serwer to wszystko jest OK. Problem pojawia się gdy masz wiecej.

    - support jest tragiczny – piszesz wiadomość, dostajesz odpowiedź po min. 3h czasem, często na napisaną wiadomość po angielsku dostajesz odpowiedź po niemiecku, często ludzie na supporcie wykazują się niekompetencją (nie znam polecenia ip, znam ifconfig).

    - brak jakiejkolwiek kontroli co, gdzie, kiedy – ustaliliśmy terminy migracji serwerów pomiędzy serwerowniami (maja ich kilkanaście) w efekcie nie dość ze się nie potrafią wyrobić w czasie to migracja może być przeprowadzona tylko za dnia (7-22)

    - niekompetentność – po migracji zapomnieli podpiąć reseterów

    - ciekawa metoda na ataki: od razu najlepiej wziąć dodatkową (darmową) pulę IP i na nich postawić serwer WWW – w przypadku ataku na serwer Hetzner blokuje nasze IP, a nie próbuje blokować IP atakujących (nawet jeżeli jest to jedna klasa /24)

    no cóż. zobaczymy jak będzie. wziąłem hetznera (ceny za dedicated są niesamowite). migrację tam organizuję jak tylko dam radę.
